"A day without snow..."

Actually I have no idea what that would be like. It's been snowing at the shorehouse a LOT. And it's the shore...we're five blocks from the ocean. Very odd weather we're having this year.

Today it's also snowing in NYC and neither snow, nor sleet, nor rain will keep me from schlepping to work. No siree. I'm loyal like a dog. (Woof.)

(The other lady of the house is enjoying this weather immensely.)

Having said that, I just looked out the window whilst enjoying my lunch and am thinking I made a horrible decision.

The photo's not blurry; that cloudiness would be snow. Lots. Of. Snow.

Oops.

I have taken advantage of the snow-filled weekends, though. I popped my own corn using the instructions Chef Guas gave at my class last week. It took just a large covered (cover = very important) pan, 1/4 cup of canola oil, 2/3 cup of corn kernals, and excessive amounts of elbow grease (shake, shake, shake the pan over heat). Note to self: A mere two-thirds a cup of corn makes a LOT of popcorn.

I also bought what I would describe as Ikatish (Ikatesque?) fabric from the JoAnn's clearance rack a couple of weeks ago:

At only $4 a yard, I figured I would make myself a wrap skirt. But this past snowy Sunday had me hankering for a pop of couch color instead. So the standard issue sofa pillow went from this:

To this:

And when Mike wasn't looking I added this:

But I think that may be too much for him (And me. I think I stepped way over the trendy line with that pairing).

And once again, we spent a large chunk of the weekend shoveling. I spotted this duo on one neighbor's porch during my leg of the shovel-a-thon, and hours later they were still there.

They let me get in pretty close, so I rewarded their generosity with some popcorn.

Hope you're enjoying the day in your nest.

Love the photo of the two birds!! We are often the ones snowed in and we are all happy here in Central NY that the storms have bypassed us so many times this winter

The commute shouldn't be bad today... are you the only one there?

Those birds are so cute! Love that you gave them popcorn.

Also love that blue pillow.

I'm full of love today, I didn't have to go to work! LOL

More snow for sure. I think I would have stayed home laying my head on one of those pretty pillows with your pup by your side. Love the photo of your pup and the birds. Oh yeah and the popcorn! xo

I am one hour north of you, and we are having our first blizzard. I know you've been having more of it than us. I've always wondered what the ocean looks like in a blizzard.
Keep warm.

Well, I came over to see how you were doing with all the snow I keep seeing on the news and I got lost in this post and went to check out the post about your class, which led me the recipe for that killer banana pudding and then I spotted another for a coconut cake with chocolate chunks and almost forgot where I was in the first place! Whew!

Loved it all and that fabric? FABULOUS!

Just need to tell you to check out the old-fashioned popcorn popper at Williams-Sonoma. Guess they still have them. Mine is about 20 years old. Same recipe you used, but it has a hand crank on it, much easier than all that shaking!

Stay warm, stay inside!

I like the pillow contrast - orange & blue = opposites attract... love the bird pairing, too

Hey, I love both pillows. I thought they looked smart! And those little fluffed up birds... how CUTE. That was sweet of you to share, too.

Have come up for air, and I'm trying to blog. Life has been NUTS!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hope you made it home safely and without too much of a hassle.

Great pillow - I like both of them.

I'm so sick of shoveling! And the slush we've got to deal with now at the shore makes it so much worse.

I wish I could remember that feeling of sheer, childish joy over a snowstorm, but I can't seem to find it. Even with a free day off from work.

Nice shot of the birds!

Laura,

I feel your pain commuting to work in this weather. We were slammed by the last two storms. Fortunately, one of the nearby commercial tree farmers owns bulldozer and likes using it in the snow. I love photo of the birds.
Stay warm.

Laura, I was thinking about you the other day when it was snowing so heavily. Bruce stayed home and we were reminiscing about great snow storms when we worked in New York. 1978 was a banner year for them. I am wishing for a snow free weekend for us both.
The pillow is great!

We had 2 days, no school. The word "enjoy" did not really apply. But your birdie pic warms my heart. xoh

Can you believe all the snow we got so far this winter? Hopefully the next storm coming next week doesn't add more inches to the mix!

I love your pillows and the birds and your cute pup...popcorn is always a welcome treat in this house!

Did you ever go to the Dr. Oz Show?
Someday we should go together..it was fun to see him in person!

That is an adorable picture of the two birds just hanging out! It has been very busy at our feeder during all this snow. I read that Baltimore, MD has more snow this winter than Buffalo NY and Caribou ME. Is that crazy? We've had three huge storms here in Central VA.

Love those two fabrics-very nice combo-I guess being inside soo much inspires more creativity than normal! Keep dry and warm and know that spring is not too far away!

What beautiful pics. Love those birds and great job on the pillows. Once again as I write this it is snowing. Sigh.

We've had snow 4 times this year and that is so not normal! The birds are so sweet. I love the ikat pillow you made. The cabinet you found (on an early post) for the sink cabinet is perfect, imo.

Thanks for stopping by AtticMag and for your sweet comments. I hope you'll visit often.
