what a sweet photo, you must treasure that

euuhh on the Ralph Lauren get up, I hadn't seen the Americans and I thought the Aussies looked bad enough...lots of Australians complaining that the dress was too modern and was not yellow and green but that whole yucky white pants and white cap thing going on, yuk, and I wonder just how much money was spent on that???!!!

Hi Laura :)

Happy Birthday Laura's mom! I love that picture :)

Great critique on the opening ceremony fashion. I normally like RL, but it was too hot for that.

What a great photo, and many happy returns to your mom!

Love your blog! I think we are living parallel lives of sorts. Anyone who pilfers forsythia to herald spring is okay by me. I pilfer rain tree blossoms in the fall. ;-)

Thanks so much for your nice comments on Rhoda's blog about my St. Augustine digs. I see that you have a wonderful older home, too. I hope to catch up on all of the posts here in the not too distant future. I did see that you and I have something else in common... your aunt's mirror (the heavy one) is like one I found in a shop. Why on earth are they so heavy??? I nearly broke my arms trying to carry the thing a few feet to the car!

Love your dog, too. And in one post I thought I spied Oak Bluff. My cousin has a place in Edgartown. Don't you just love the water and all of the neat places up and down the East Coast? Charleston is one of my favorites. Lots of friends there.

Look forward to coming back here to read.

Fondly,

Sheila

Awww...Thanks for the well wishes, everyone! Mom's back from a long weekend in the country so I suspect she'll be reading these herself (and since she too is a bit of a night owl she may be right now!). And I love that a got a cheer for a mom from a 3cheers4mom. Seems so poetic. :-)

And Sarah - the Aussies still had us beat. I thought Ralph Lauren of all people would do so well. Sigh.

Oh Sheila...Thanks so much for stopping by!! You must have spent a deal of time here if you made it back to forsythia (and, I mean - it just grows and grows in the parks. Who really missed my little snip-snip? :-)

Your house is ammmaaazzinng. I've actually been back to watch the video AGAIN. I don't know where to start...Are you really selling this gem? Swoon...if only I didn't just buy a house. :-) I've filed so many of your ideas away in the "mental rolodex" -- like the vintage life rings hung from the over-ther-door hook. LOVE that!

The photo you thought was Oak Bluff may be right here in Ocean Grove NJ. We're "sister towns" apparently -- both were settled by the same eastern-based Methodists in the same decade (1870s) so the style and architecture are very similar. I have not been to Charleston or St. Augustine but am itching to. We were talking St. Augustine in the late Fall, in fact.

Everyone...check out the video of Sheila's house from this link at Southern Hospitality...

Love this old pic. Happy birthday to Laura's mom!

Your new header is fun! (Or have you had it for weeks and I'm just now noticing?) Great byline for it. Made me laugh. -Julia
