4th of July, Asbury Park

Sandy the fireworks are hailin' over Little Eden tonight
Forcin' a light into all those stoned-out faces left stranded on this Fourth of July
Down in town the circuit's full with switchblade lovers so fast so shiny so sharp
And the wizards play down on Pinball Way on the boardwalk way past dark
And the boys from the casino dance with their shirts open like Latin lovers along the shore
Chasin' all them silly New York girls

-- Bruce Springsteen, "4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)"

The Working Woman's Guide to Domestic Success asked bloggers to, "Tell a Day in Your Life" in photos. And I admit, this is a bit of a cheat since today is the 4th of July so my day was cooler than I typically am. My days are usually not this footloose and fancy free.

The day started with coffee (not pictured) and a walk to the Asbury Park parade, where I started to play around with the digital camera the mister bought me for Christmas (I usually just point and shoot for the blog. Today I concentrated a bit!):

Parade en Pointe

The Pouty Princess

Old Firetruck

Then, laundry (keeping it real):

Next, to the boardwalk in Asbury to watch fireworks:

Anticipation

Kaboom

Kaboom 2

Kaboom 3

Kaboom Finale

Then, off to see the amazing Mark Linskey with the mister and my brother.

Live, Tonight

Solo, Acoustic

Look who his new album's in memory of! My dad would be so stoked. (I think he knows, and is.)

It's Only Rock & Roll

Looks like a fun day!

Love the idea of telling a day in your life in photos. Most of mine would be: Here I am at the computer, typing. Here I am making lunch. Here I am back at the computer, typing. Bo-ring. -Julia

Great photos lady! Love the fireworks! I didn't get out to see any (we're digging out from under plaster currently) but coming here and seeing some great shots really made me feel great!

LOL, hooked on houses. If I did today it would have been affix lampshade to lamp, read blogs, trip to Lowe's, eat leftovers, figure out sprinkler timer, vacuum, read more blogs, laundry. :-)

And Laura, "great shots" coming from you make me feel great! I saw your bathroom shot -- looks like you had a plasterrific holiday indeed.

Hi,

Asbury Park, WOW!!!! does that bring back memories. Vacations as a kid were always spent at the Jersey shore, from Long Branch all the way down to Atlantic City. We never made it as far as Cape May. ;) I grew up in Union County. And not a summer went by that I didn't spend some time at AP, my father often took me on the merry- go-round or the pony rides there, we both loved horses.:) I love it when Bruce speaks of it or has concerts there, it's nice that he doesn't forget where he came from. We did spend most of our summers at Seaside Heights, when I was a teenager, but after I got married is was always Long Beach Island. We're in Delaware now, but once a Jerseygirl always a Jerseygirl, my heart is still there.
Thanks for the memories.

I enjoyed your posts very much, sure did hit home.

Good morning Laura :)

What a great day! The pouty princess was too cute ;)

Great firework shots. I couldn't get those right at all.

heidi -- I should have added sound effects to make it more of a live experience! :-) Thanks, and I'm glad you liked the pics.

jerseygirl -- so well named! I'm so happy you came by for a visit. If you haven't been to Asbury in a while, there is an AMAZING amount of progress (finally) happening. I'm so glad you enjoyed the post!!

rue -- I was scrolling through the many (unused!) features on my camera and there was a fireworks icon! So I went with it, and it actually worked out well. Suuuuppppper slow shutter speed so I was never quite sure what I was going to get. I spared you the many blurry messes. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by, Dawn! That was literally the very last photo I took that day and I think it's my favorite.
