Using of the flea finds.

In my last post, I mentioned a pair of lamps ($5 each) my friend Jim bought at the Ocean Grove Flea Market that I was remiss in photographing. Well here they are, already at home on his buffet:

Fun, right? He originally intended on using them for a design project but they look quite content right where they are.

Ditto for the fantastic Village of Berwinsdale sign he also got at the flea.

Don't you just love seeing what people do with their thrifty finds? I personally can't wait to see what I do with mine (as in, I need to *do* something with mine!).

On a completely unrelated note, I walked past the newly created pedestrian zone in Times Square on my way home from work last night.

It was rather odd to see a bunch of people plopped down on lawn chairs (provided by the city and already mangled and broken, by the way) in the middle of Broadway. Looking at, well, nothing really.

I'll be back tomorrow with my wrap-up of the Antiques Roadshow. That's right -- I went on Saturday and it was a fabulous dream come true. (I've never been known to dream really big.)

The chairs in NY are a hoot. Have a golden day my friend! xoxo

His lamps and the sign look great!

I had heard about that pedestrian zone but wasn't quite able to picture it. Love seeing everyone hanging out on lawn chairs like they're waiting for a parade or something!

Can't wait to read all about your dream come true at the Antiques Roadshow. Sounds exciting!

Oh, Laura, I loved going along on your thrifting, that looked SO much fun! And how about those lawn chairs in the middle of Times Square. That is hilarious!

Looks like you are having fun this summer with the yardsales too. Thanks for coming by & for all your great comments.

the lawn chairs just scream 'run me down and drag me down Broadway'.

I had not HEARD that Times Square had gone "green" in this particular way - - - but I'm LOVING it. How fun would it be to just SIT in the middle of that street for a while?

Thanks for the picture of it!!!

I'm a little confused by the pedestrian zone but it does look rather interesting.

I cannot wait to hear about your Antiques Roadshow experience. We LOVE that show. I'm still waiting to find my copy of the Declaration of Independence at some yard sale... we're not THAT far from Philly, it COULD happen...

Laura,

I missed the post on the OG Flea Market so I went back. Some funny stories! Your "tongue in cheek" commentary is always LOL! Great idea for the cookie cutters~I never think of creative ideas for re~purposing things. I'm going to have to follow you closely! And bravo on the fork finds. I think I love silver (or silver plated) more than dishes.

Hmmmm...a pedestrian walkway. Not sure what that is but do enjoy looking at pics of NYC taken by someone I "know"!!! Why didn't they put in park benches?

Have a great day, Laura!

xoxo

Can't wait to hear about the Roadshow. I so look forward to that show.
Why the chairs in Times Square. I haven't read about it. They should be red for "The Big Apple"

Jim's finds are fantastic! Though the lamps are cool, my favorite is the Village sign. I love where he put it too!!

Can't wait to hear all about the Roadshow!

And, as for the pedestrian zone in Times Square... I just don't even know what to say! Green lawn chairs? Somewhere Rudy Guilani is having a heart attack for this "quality of life" violation. ;)

I love the way you friend used his finds. Perfect and as for Times square I think it's just a mess for traffic and getting around the city. The cabbies and delivery guys are losing it.

You and Jim made out like bandits! I love all the finds and I like where he put his :)

Why are they sitting out there? It looks like a stunt from a late night show or something LOL

Have a great weekend Laura!

rue
