Did I need these lamps?

Of course not. But when I saw them sitting in all of their vintage goodness (while I was out Christmas shopping. You know - that time of year you're supposed to be shopping for others?), I decided they had to come home with me.

I had the perfect place for them:

They need to be polished up and one of the lamps could use a bit of rejiggering (there's a loose socket that I think I may be able to fix myself) but I like the light they bring to the room, especially at night. The black shades tone down the too-blue walls (you can read more about my master bedroom paint drama here) and almost turn them the grey-blue I was hoping for.

Any impulse purchase(s) for you while you were "gift" shopping over the holidays? Go ahead, enlighten me. (Har har.)

Those are some cool lamps, I am looking for a new one for the FR, maybe I should check out second hand shops. I was actually good this Christmas-nothing extravagent that I had to have, although I did a little on line shopping at Pottery Barn to get some mercury glass-my new obsession. But they were on sale!

Beautiful. You definitely needed them. Just like I needed that second pink velvet bathrobe I bought myself. No, really. My first pink velvet bathrobe is almost 20 years old and kind of worn. Not that I plan on getting rid of it.

Oh, yes maam, you did need those lamps! Those are the sort that you just can't pass up. Love them! I think the only impulse buy I had this year was when I popped into TJ Maxx looking for something for someone else & came out with a $60 clearance round side table I'm going to paint black. Couldn't leave that beauty sitting there!

Laura, I dare say you needed those lamps, and I would have said that before you answered the question yourself. LOL! I love them. Great deal, girl! You did GOOD!

Oh, they're lovely! Between those and Renovation Therapy's ginger jar lamps, I'm feeling a vintage lamp spree coming on.

Hi Laura
They looks so pretty! In the first photo they look big, like end table lamps, but when I saw them on the dresser I thought they were absolutely perfect!

I impulse buy any time I pass a baby department anywhere, so I have made the resolution to slow down on that for awhile at least .. lol

Hugs, Pat

Those are cool lamps. Usually I don't go for table lamps, and esp in that style, but they are really nice!

And my splurges..were actually really little: just some mercury glass candle lamps. I love em. And they were on clearance, so they were justified! :p

Those lamps are really cool Laura!

I bought a few things, but nothing big. Usually I go nuts, but I tried to bring it down, so to speak.

Happy New Year, btw!
hugs,
rue

We were too snowed in this year to do any impulse shopping before Christmas - alas! I'm glad I'm not the only who shops for herself as well as others over the holidays... love the lamps.
