When one door closes...

...a nicer new one opens.

Our new storm door is finally in place. I was going to title this post "Free at Last" because the door we've been living with frankly made me feel incarcerated:

I guess the bars "protect" you and all, but if someone really wants to get in I'm sure they'll figure out a way. Plus, "jail door" had no screen so we missed out on those summer breezes.

One potential problem with the new door is the glare-free view from the inside. What's the over-under on someone walking right through it? TGFHI (Thank God for Homeowners Insurance).

Update: Hudson Cradle...

I am very happy to say I'm at 85 comments, or $425. "But Laura," you say, "there's only 78 comments posted." Well, Ceil (Hudson Cradle board member and superstar volunteer) made the very valid point in her comment that the seven babies currently at Hudson Cradle don't have computer access, or they'd surely leave a comment. Point taken! So it's Ceil plus seven. :-)

Since this is my blog, I also reserve the right to amend the rules. I'm keeping the contest open until the end of the week (Saturday) in the hopes I can get to my goal of 100 comments. That's 15 to go...so leave a comment, or go back and comment again. Heck, The Quintessential Magpie's managed to shake 20 bucks from my pockets so far!

My name in (blog) lights...

The fabulous Faboolosity has an interview with me today on her blog. Stop by to learn a little more about little ol' me.

I like the new door. You are right, that old one really felt jaily or jail-like or jail-ish....you know what I'm trying to say.

I have the same door, it lasted for 3 days with the screen in (summer time) before a dog walked through the screen. Consider blowing the $20 for the metal grate that goes along the bottom.

Miss Laura you are just too cute standing in front of your LARGE sunflower...I used to work in advertising in NYC before I moved to San Diego at Ogilvy & Mather and Dancer, Fitzgerald in the music department-we produced all those memorable jingles!!

That's exactly the door I want too. We're still living with the old "original" storm door, which I painted, but paint not always makes things look new!

Funny, whenever I see those doors that look like "jail" doors I wonder why?

Hi Laura! Thanks for stopping by my blog -- I've really enjoyed perusing yours and added it to my blog roll. Yes, pit mixes are totally the best! Camille's fitting in at our place like she was born to be with us. :0)

Thanks for visiting my blog today! I love the snow too! I'm like a kid at heart waiting for a snow day so I don't have to go into work. LOL...

This post will cost you another $5 for sure, Laura. ;-)

Loved the door story and the boss story and the interview! I'm so glad you showed that woman a thing or two or three! You go, girl!

You be careful with that glass door. Can you put some sort of suction cup thingy on there just for good measure and take it off when company comes???

I had jail bars on the windows of our St. A. place, and it was secure but UG-ly.

And I love the plaid dress story. Adother reason I like you! And might it be the McLeod tartan? That's my mother in law's mother's side of the family. But I've got lots of Scots in mine, too. I bleed plaid, and something tells me you do, too. :-)

We have the same door...must be a shore thing. No one has ever walked through it...yet. I enjoyed the interview. If we are doing well today, it is probably because someone did not believe in us at one point. I guess we all need someone to insist that we prove ourselves, and you certainly had yours.

Love the new door. Also Jail Door can scare away potential buyers in your neighborhood. I feel for you on the someone crashing through the glass issue. Make sure you have nothing of value in your foyer!

and again in honor of Ned's sister, my niece Nora, another angel baby watching over us all.

I was so inspired by this post and plan to do something for this very special home for babies.
