Queen for a Day

Many times I get surprises at work. Most are not very good ones: Deadlines getting bumped up, people asking me to do their (grunt) work for them, a new "to do" list the size of Texas, etc.

But today my surprise at work came from the FedEx man. And it was a much nicer surprise...

I mean...can you stand this crafty goodness?! Sue is Sue of
Rue Mouffetard. She's a Jersey Girl living in Georgia (once a Jersey Girl, always a Jersey Girl. Right, Jersey Girl in D.C.? :-), and we've bonded in the bloggy world over the past few months. She loves the City of Lights, good food (and knows a thing or two about creating delicious food, as evidenced by the amazing toffee she sent me...click here for the recipe on her blog), and has shared some great stories with me about her days in The Garden State. Sue also has a pint-sized granddaughter that unwittingly poses for some of the funniest blog photos...ever.

Thanks for my bounty, Sue! I feel like Queen for a Day.

And I just may have to use those adorable handmade ice cream cones to bop someone in the head with when I get another, not-so-good-surprise at work. (Kidding! These ice cream cones are way too good for bopping co-workers with. Though my colleague and I considered it throughout the day today...).

Hi Laura!
Bloggers are the nicest people! That was so sweet of of Sue to surprise you with a gift!

I have to opt out of the Daring Baker this month since we'll be traveling to see the baby when he's born (still waiitng!) and I think I picked a good month -- this month's challenge is unbelievable! Are you going to try it? You'll need a few days so plan ahead -- lol!

Hugs, Pat

Hi Laura, I'm visiting via Diane's blog--I was born in NYC, lived in Queens, then on LI, and finally Albany, NY for many years until moving to North Carolina in 1989. What a great Christmas "care package" you got--enjoy!

What a sweet friend (and creative). It is so nice to realize that bloggers have REAL friendships, not just words floating out in cyberspace!! Hope your cookie exchange went well!!

I think Sue is making the rest of us look bad since we haven't sent you anything! But I'll forgive her because you deserve to be Queen for a Day. :-)
